Setting Up Networking and CCTV for a New Office: What to Plan For

Networking and CCTV usually get planned after the furniture and the paint, when there is far less room to do them properly. Both are much easier to get right if they are part of the move-in plan from the start, rather than an add-on once desks are already in place.

Structured cabling comes before anything else

Where your switches, access points and CCTV recorder will sit, and how cabling reaches each desk cluster and camera position, decides how clean the rest of the setup is. Deciding this after desks and partitions are fixed in place usually means longer cable runs, visible trunking, and compromises that were avoidable if networking was planned alongside the office layout instead of after it.

CCTV coverage is a layout decision, not just a hardware order

Entry points, cash or stock areas, and server or IT rooms are the obvious coverage points, but blind spots usually show up at corridor turns and secondary entrances that only become obvious once you walk the finished space. Deciding camera positions while the layout is still on paper costs nothing to change; deciding it after fit-out means drilling through finished walls or accepting the gap.

Order hardware as one project, not as it comes up

Switches, access points, cameras, recorders and the workstations themselves are easier to size and budget correctly as one coordinated order than as separate purchases whenever something is next needed. It also means one point of contact for the whole setup instead of coordinating multiple vendors during a move that already has enough moving parts.

We handle networking setup, CCTV installation and bulk hardware procurement as one coordinated job for new offices and branch rollouts, on-site across Maharashtra. See our Network & CCTV page, or talk to us before your fit-out is finished.
